Short Introduction
A CADEmIA is my diploma project at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
It is a multimedia work developed from lived experience and artistic research, translating memory, surveillance, and transformation into spatial, visual, and sonic form.
The project unfolds across book, installation, and performance.
What is “A CADEmIA”
A CADEmIA is a three-part artistic work that examines how experiences are inscribed into bodies, spaces, and systems.
Rather than narrating events directly, the project works with fragments, structures, and atmospheres. It explores how confinement, reintegration, and projection into the future can be translated into material, light, sound, and text.
The work is not documentary.
It is experiential.
The Project in Three Parts
I. The Book — A CADEmIA
The book forms the conceptual and narrative backbone of the project.
Structured as a triptych — PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE — it reflects different temporal states without revealing everything.
PAST addresses confinement and rupture.
PRESENT focuses on reintegration and reflection.
FUTURE opens a space of projection, possibility, and unfinished thought.
The book functions less as explanation and more as a container for embodied memory — similar to a dream that is felt rather than fully seen.
II. Prisonball — Installation
Prisonball is a walk-in, geodesic LED sculpture with a diameter of approximately 1.8 meters.
Its surface consists of flexible LED mesh panels that respond to proximity and movement. Red data-like formations shift and reorganize as viewers approach, referencing surveillance, presence, and bodily awareness.
Inside the structure, sound and light condense into an immersive chamber — a space where personal memory and collective systems overlap.
The installation acts as both architecture and skin: reactive, fragile, and charged.
III. Brazilian Techno Opera — Performance
The third part of A CADEmIA is a live performance developed in collaboration with
baritone Jakob Schad,
countertenor Nils Wanderer,
and sound designer Jonathan Freund.
The work combines electronic rhythm, techno structures, and vocal performance into a form of contemporary music theater.
The contemporary libretto explores tensions between nature and technology, control and embodiment, memory and system logic.
It is conceived as a social sculpture rather than a traditional stage work.
